The Ins and Outs of Kitchen Design

Behind the Scenes: Attention to Detail

Most homeowners understand the basics of a kitchen design and remodel. They know that they will need to choose a cabinet style, select the stone or material for the countertops, decide on cabinet hardware, and purchase new appliances. But what takes many clients by surprise is the complexity, the extensive planning, and the amount of detail that is needed to create a dream kitchen.

Of course, designing a stunning kitchen is always our end goal, but even the most beautiful kitchen is useless unless it is functional. This is where our design team steps in. They are experts in helping homeowners hammer out the details that make a nice kitchen into the perfect kitchen, custom to them, their style, and their family’s needs.

This white, modern kitchen was everything our client was looking for. Sleek, clean lines and modern finishes breathed life into this space. The blue kitchen island added a fresh pop of color, and the stainless-steel appliances match perfectly with the chrome pendants they selected.

Lastly, the open shelves above the coffee station added space to be creative and add decor.

We Start by Asking Questions

Our first step is to get to know you and how you live by asking a lot of questions. What are your “must haves”? Where does your current kitchen fall short? Are there two (or more!) people cooking at the same time? Do you entertain? Do you bake? Are you the parent of three little ones or a soon to be empty nester? How long do you plan on living in your house? Every homeowner’s wants and needs are different, and we look at every detail to ensure that your new kitchen fits your tastes and your lifestyle.

The Process

Once we understand your wants, needs, style, and budget, our designers get to work. Whether the project is a simple “facelift” or an entire kitchen renovation, our team will use its years of experience to walk you through the kitchen remodeling process. After our initial kick-off meeting, we take exact measurements and create several floor plan options for consideration. When the floor plan is selected, we get to the fun part: the design.

One of our all-time favorite kitchens. Cozy, yet chic, this large space has it all. The fireplace and wood island warm the space in contrast to the bright white cabinets and countertops. The elegant light fixtures above the island and copper range hood tie the room together perfectly blending this modern farmhouse design together.

The Design

When designing a custom kitchen, we consider every detail from the location of electrical outlets to where to store appliances. Details like where your utensil drawer is located, the best way to organize your spices, cabinet lighting, recessed light locations, proximity of prep spaces and prep utensils, and so on. Efficiency in the kitchen does not happen by accident, it is planned. We guide you through the decision process from start to finish with no detail overlooked.

The Results

The best part: the finished product. The final reveal is our favorite part and we’re sure it will be yours, too.

It is the attention to detail that makes a custom kitchen truly your own, and details are what make a nice kitchen into the kitchen of your dreams, the perfect place to gather and entertain, and the heart of your home.

We work with clients with a variety of tastes and our portfolio reflects that. This traditional kitchen is simple, yet beautiful. The rich cherry cabinetry stands out against the stainless-steel appliances and tile floor.

The black hardware and banding accent in the crown molding tie in the dark stained built-in cabinet in the dining area.

No matter your style, our team of designers will bring your vision to life. Reach out today to build the custom kitchen of your dreams!

Be well,

The Team at BFIDS
